The cable television sports network ESPN says it fired an employee responsible for an offensive headline referring to Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin.
The headline "Chink in the Armor" was used Friday on ESPN's mobile website after Lin had nine turnovers in New York's loss to New Orleans

I think we have a case of a person who nullified common sense for a provocative headline and he paid the price for that lapse of sense.

It is a very common expression and with such big stories, these people are often pressed to get a headline up there in a very short amount of time. I could see it being inadvertent. ESPN was right to cut ties with him but, if it was an honest mistake, I feel bad for the guy.
Magic Moose I understand exactly what you're saying. He made a really big mistake and in an age where everyone is hyper-sensitive, I'm sure ESPN felt they had no choice but to do this.
